WARRINGTON Disability Partnership (WDP) is in a celebratory mood following the news that one of its employees has achieved an EAL Award.
Sam Allen, aged 21, has successfully attained his EAL Level 2 Award in Personal Learning and Thinking Skills for new entrants into the Science, Engineering and Manufacturing sectors.
Sam began life at WDP in May 2012 as an apprentice and was partly supported by funding from Warrington Borough Council and the Coalfield Regeneration Trust Apprenticeship Programme.
He was selected as part of the ‘Closing The Gap’ initiative as a young person who was Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).
After successfully completing the 12-month programme, WDP continued to support Sam by offering him a full-time contract as part of its Disability Trading Company (DTC).
Training organisation Total People Ltd continued to support both employer and employee as Sam initially achieved his NVQ Level 1 – and this effective partnership has now seen Sam achieve his Level 2 Award.
Sam says he is grateful for all the support he has received from WDP over the past two years and the organisation has observed with pride his transformation from an unemployed teenager to a valued member of the workforce who is acquiring skills and qualifications to offer himself a bright future.
