STUDENTS from Lymm High School’s Ecology Club helped volunteers from the Friends of Spud Wood (FoSW) Group plant almost 100 new trees.
The new trees, including Crap Apples, Bird Cherry and Wild Cherry trees, will increase the foraging opportunities in the wood.
Mr Heaton, from Lymm High School, said: “It’s really good for the children to have the opportunity to do some practical work in their community. They have really enjoyed planting the trees in Spud Wood.”
The Woodland Trust is really pleased that the local community have been finding new ways to get involved in Spud Wood. During the summer local volunteers have been surveying visitors to ask them what they value about Spud Wood. The top responses are that it is a lovely, peaceful and convenient place to enjoy.
