WARRINGTON Wolves have launched their 2014-15 Under 16s Academy at the University of Chester’s Padgate campus.
Those players joining the U16s Academy for the forthcoming season were welcomed to the Wolves’ family by head of youth, junior recruitment and development Ben Lazenby, along with player performance manager Phil Jones, first team coach Richard Agar, U16s coach Gary Chambers and chief executive Andy Gatcliffe.
The club is proud of developing homegrown talent and will once again look to produce good people as well as good players instilling the key values of honesty, trust and responsibility. Rising star Joe Philbin was on hand to talk through his experiences, progressing through the ranks to making his first-team debut this season.
The club has a proud history and former member of the Warrington pack, Roy Lester, added some nostalgia to the evening having played for the Wire between 1976 and 1980.
Ben Lazenby, head of youth, junior recruitment and development, said: “On behalf of the club I’d like to congratulate all players who are joining the U16s Academy this season. They have all worked exceedingly hard to get to where they are but this is the start of their journey; it’s the first rung on the ladder and there are a lot of rungs to go, our values are fundamental to making this next step. We as a club will support them all the way. It’s an absolute delight to be able to start preparation for the 2015 season. It is my seventh year at Warrington Wolves and I am as excited as ever with the players we’ve got going into what should be a really exciting year.”
