A more sophisticated festive party season

CULTURE Warrington have come up with a varied programme of events for the Christmas party season – which avoid the embarrassing moments that sometimes spoil the good times.
They suggesting getting friends together and heading down to Pyramid and Parr Hall for some “slightly more sophisticated fun.
There won’t be dancing on the tables. There won’t be teeny glasses filled with luminous liquids with a “zillion per cent” alcohol content and more to the point, there won’t be any regrets the following day.
A spokeswoman said: “The range and quality of entertainment we have for you this next few weeks, is almost obscene.
“Whether it’s ice-cool festival favourites ‘Embrace’ on December 2, sizzling hot ‘Magic of Motown’ on December 6, or the mesmerising master of the acoustic guitar, Peter Price on December 5, you are sure to get top points from your friends for showing them a new way to party.
“If it’s pure laughs you’re after, get the mini-bus to drop you and your friends at the Comedy Store on December 6.
“We have the brightest new talents coming through on our stage and they’re always a touch cheeky and up for a bit of audience participation. And there are bars at both venues – but strictly no trendy wine-bar prices.
For people who can’t decide between comedy and music, the Houghton Weavers on December 12, offer both with everything from jokes and antidotes, to raucous folk songs and beautiful ballads.
All the shows start at either 7.30pm or 8pm and ticket prices vary from £11 to £25
