WARRINGTON Town have moved quickly to strengthen their striking options by signing “Golden Boot” winner Lee Gaskell (pictured top) from Ramsbottom United and Steven Tames from Hyde United.
Gaskell, aged 29, who spent seven years at Bury, before moving to Morcambe, was the Evo-Stik North Division’s “Golden Boot award” winner with Ramsbottom last season, finishing top scorer with 29 goals as the team won promotion via the play-offs.
Tames, aged 22, (pictured right) has signed from Hyde United after starring with Vauxhall Motors last season, scoring 11 goals in 25 games, including three in his last four appearances for the club.
Gaskell, who recently returned from injury at Ramsbottom is not cup tied. Both players will be in contention at Salford tonight (Tuesday).
Club Chairman Toby Macormac said: “We were looking to strengthen our attacking options in the squad and when we heard these players were available we worked tirelessly behind the scenes to secure their services.
“Shaun knows plenty about Tames having managed him earlier in his career and our club has been on the receiving end of Gaskell’s scoring prowess.
“Shaun admires both of these players and I’m certain his choices will reap the benefits for the club as we look to progress up the table.”
