POLICE in Warrington are focusing on evening revellers enjoying the night-time economy in the run up to Christmas.
As part of Operation Blue Christmas, they will be targeting those who take advantage of the Christmas period to take part in anti-social or criminal behaviour.
As Christmas draws closer and people start to plan Christmas parties and nights out, it is important to remember some key tips to stay safe and enjoy a fun-filled, holiday season, they say.
Drinking alcohol before going out or “preloading” may result in revellers drinking too much, getting trouble and having their night cut short.
It can also result in people becoming a victim of crime.
Superintendent Martin Cleworth, said: “Christmas is a great time for people to go out and enjoy themselves with friends and family. While most people are out to have a good time, it’s important to remember to stay safe and be responsible throughout the festive period.
“It is about planning your nights in advance to make sure that you’re going to have a safe and enjoyable time, and not putting yourself in a situation that could get you in trouble or make you vulnerable. Officers will be out on patrol throughout Christmas, reassuring the public that we are there when and where you need us.”
