Pupils get busy planting trees

GREEN-FINGERED pupils from St Thomas’s Primary School, Stockton Heath, have joined forces with housing chiefs and parish councillors to plant more than 30 new trees.
Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) and Stockton Heath Parish Council providing the land and the trees while the youngsters planted the 33 Silver Birch and Sorbus Aucuparia trees on Chadwick Avenue in Stockton Heath.
The aim is to improve the look and feel of area while at the same time considering the environment.
The project concept, delivery and funds were spearheaded by the parish council, residents of Chadwick Avenue and Willow Drive and the Warrington Borough Council Community Chest.
Residents of the two streets also came together to contribute generously towards the cost of the trees.
GGHT chairman Roy Smith said: “It is important to recognise that children represent our future and educating them on the environment is critical. “Planting trees is one of the easiest ways we can look after our environment. We would like to thank St Thomas’s Primary School, the local parish council, residents and WBC Community Chest for coming together to make this initiative happen.”
