AS part of the Sport England Lottery Funding, Warrington based LiveWire is one of 13 leisure trusts to benefit from the second round of funding from the ‘Make Your Move’ project led by Sporta.
LiveWire, in partnership with the English Federation of Disability and Active Cheshire will invest in a 12 month plan to deliver ‘Inclusive Fitness Warrington’ aimed at increasing participation in sport amongst disabled adults aged 26+.
The project offers a varied programme of integrated and parallel activities that are adapted so they are accessible to all; this supports LiveWire’s vision to support everyone to be active for life. The programme will see the LiveWire employ a new Activator who will engage with local partners and support the delivery of activities both within community settings and its facilities. LiveWire’s Assistant Area Neighbourhood Wellbeing Manager, Gail Wilson, praised the new scheme: “This is a great opportunity for people with disabilities to access LiveWire facilities on a regular basis; there is also a great social aspect to the project as it encourages people to get fit and healthy with friends. The activities delivered will demonstrate to the people in Warrington how exercise can be incorporated within their daily routine.”
Sport England’s Director of Property, Charles Johnston, said: “Leisure trusts play a key part in delivering high quality sports projects in towns and cities across the country. This investment in the 13 projects for Sporta’s Make Your Move programme will give people the opportunity to take part in a way that most suits them, and get more people, more active, more often.”
LiveWire will begin the programme in January, for more information visit the website on www.livewirewarrington.co.uk
