EMERGENCY works have started on the inbound carriageway of the A49 Winwick Road, Warrington – reducing the carriageway to one lane between Sandy Lane West and Long Lane.
The work is being carried out by National Grid and the lane closure is required for safety reasons.
Work will be carried out throughout the weekend and it is hoped it will be completed by Monday.
Drivers can expect hold-ups at busy periods.
