TWO industrial wheelie bins were set alight at Warrington in the early hours of today – the latest in a worrying series of fires involving bins.
Fire crews from Warrington Fire Station dealt with the blaze at Chetham Court, on the Winwick Quay industrial estate, using two hose reel jets.
Police were called to the scene.
Earlier, police were informed after fire crews had dealt with a fire involving two bread trays which had been set alight in Broadbent Avenue, Warrington.
The trays had been placed against the side of a building but firefighters extinguished the blaze before flames could spread to the property.
Fire crews suspected the fire had been started deliberately.
In another incident, fire crews were called to Toll Bar Road, Orford and use a hose reel jet to tackle a fire involving a bin at the rear of a property.
Both the police and the fire service have issued warnings following a series of fires involving wheeled bins in the Orford and Longford areas of the town.
No less than eight bin fires were dealt with on Wednesday and police have mounted extra patrols in the area during the hours of darkness to try and deter the offenders.
Anyone with information about the fires is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers hot line on 0800 555 111.
