A CORPORATE fundraising ball generated a record-breaking £21,000 for Warrington children’s charity Brainwave – more than double last year’s total.
The jazz-themed fundraiser, sponsored and supported by Warrington-based ClearSky Business, took place at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa in Knutsford.
Highlights at the swing and sparkle ball included an auction of experiences, a prize raffle and live “big band” music from Dr Jazz and the Cheshire Cats.
An array of holidays and sporting, cultural and leisure activities went to the highest bidder in the auction.
Among the prizes was a day in the kitchen with celebrity chef Aiden Byrne, a hot air balloon flight and a trip to world-famous Soho jazz club Ronnie Scott’s.
Brainwave, which has its North West fundraising centre in Birchwood, helps children with disabilities and additional needs to achieve greater independence and fulfil their potential.
Therapists work with families to devise tailored educational and physical programmes that focus on improving mobility and communication skills.
Joanne Freeman, the charity’s regional community fundraising manager, said the ball an “unprecedented success.”
She said: “Raising our biggest ever total was the perfect way to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Brainwave in the North West.
“The only problem we now have is trying to top it next year!”
