THE latest phase of a multi million pound development at Bents Garden & Home at Glazebury, near Warrington has been completed.
Valued at £5.1m, the 37-week project included the design and build of a two-storey extension, providing additional retail space on the ground floor together with new offices, and future expansion space for retail at first floor level.
The work was carried out by Eric Wright Construction and the scheme also included the construction of a new roundabout on the A574 highway, a key feature of reinforcing Bents as a destination.
Work carried out also enhanced the children’s boutique and pet care departments, adding a new groom room and pet café, while the 9,000 sq ft food hall will, on completion, have space for several fresh deli counters, local butchers, craft bakery and wine shop.
Matthew Bent, managing director at Bents Garden & Home, said: “We’ve come a long way since the Bents’ business was established by my grandparents nearly 75 years ago and the journey so far has been hugely enjoyable.
“Despite growing in size we want to retain all the great things we already do, keeping the feeling and ambiance we have worked hard to create, but in a bigger store. Whilst never forgetting our
gardening heritage we’ve worked hard to create a destination that is no longer just focussed on the garden but also encompasses home, lifestyle, leisure and a day out and Eric Wright Construction has helped us achieve just that.”
John Wilson, managing director of Eric Wright Construction, added: “We’re delighted to have completed the latest phase of works with Bents Garden & Home and are confident that the new facilities will help the family-run business to continue delivering a multi-faceted shopping experience suitable for all.”
