A SPONSORED walk in Dallam was great fun and helped raise money for the local area.
Residents, groups and partners came together for a sponsored walk called The Dallam Dash, which is from Dallam to Bewsey and back.
The walk started at the Dallam end of Longshaw Street, went all the way to Jockey Bridge and back down again. During the first half of the walk the “Stoptober” ball was pushed through the streets to meet the iVan at Dallam playing fields.
The aim of the event was to promote and fundraise for local community groups in Dallam and Bewsey.
The fun activity organised by Warrington Borough Council central neighbourhood team and funded by Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT).
People attended from the council, GGHT, Cheshire Police, Livewire, Dallam Diners, Bewsey Lunch Club and Angels Dance Academy.
Cllr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture, said: “It is hoped that more than £200 will be raised from this event which is great news and the money will be donated to local groups in the area.
“About 65 people used the iVan and were provided with advice, information and support on a whole range of early signs and symptoms of cancer, healthy lifestyles advice and other services that can support people.
“I would like to thanks the walkers who took part in the event and hope to see more next year.”
GGHT Chair, Roy Smith said: “I would like to thank everybody who took part in this great fun event which the whole community got behind, both young and old. We hope that this event continues to grow and flourish with many more people taking part in the future.”
