Police get on their bikes for charity

CHESHIRE’S Chief Constable was joined by officers across the county in a charity bike ride to raise money for Children in Need.
Despite the torrential rain, flash flooding and blustery autumnal weather officers donned their lycra and cycle helmets in order to “Pedal for Pudsey”.
The officers cycled from police stations at Stockton Heath, Ellesmere Port and Chester to force headquarters in Winsford.
Chief constable Simon Byrne said: “There are two reasons for this – raising money for a worthwhile charity whilst highlighting the cycling prowess of our officers and staff.
“Cycling is a fantastic way to increase visibility in the community and makes officers more accessible than if they were patrolling in a car.
“I’d like to thank those who battled against the elements to join me in the challenge to raise money for some very valuable and important causes.”
