POLICE are stepping up their efforts against fraud, conducting door-to-door enquiries across Cheshire.
Officers will be pursuing their enquiries into cases of fraud and providing community reassurance that there are ways for people to protect themselves as part of positive action week.
Chief Inspector Giles Pierce, said: “The message we are sending out this week is that fraud in Cheshire will not be tolerated and if you commit such crimes, we will find you and bring you to justice. We work closely with partner agencies and have access to information to protect people against this crime.
“As a force we have dedicated officers in place which tackle this issue and this week is a development in the on-going work done by Cheshire Police to raise awareness of fraud. Fraud is a crime that stretches across a wide range of platforms, from bogus tradesmen and counterfeit goods to the more complex practices of online, cyber-fraud.
“In today’s digital age the tactics being used by fraudsters are becoming more advanced and it is now more vital than ever to be aware of such tactics and protect ourselves. We work very closely with partner agencies to identify fraud and subsequently bring those commit such crime to justice.”
Anyone who is a victim of fraud should report it to ActionFraud at actionfraud.police.uk or by calling 0300 123 2040.
