Young People wanted for Independent Advisory Group

DOMINIC Rogers, Youth Ambassador for Cheshire is appealing to young people to become part of Cheshire Constabulary’s Independent Advisory Group.
Jacki Tinning, Diversity Manager for Cheshire Constabulary explained: “The primary role of Volunteer Independent Advisors is to act as a ‘critical friend’ to the police. To question conventional thinking by constructively challenging the Force on our policies, procedures and practices ? including critical incidents ? and advise us on how to enhance these key areas, to provide a fair and equitable delivery of services.”
Dominic Rogers said: “I want young people to have the opportunity to be involved in the Independent Advisory Group, to ensure that the views of children and young people are represented. It is also a great opportunity for young people to be directly involved in some key decisions which affect them and their communities.”
Independent advisors are volunteers who provide advice on how policing services may be, or are being, perceived by communities.
Jacki added: “The term ‘independent’ refers to the nature of the advice provided, rather than the relationship with the police. Advisors add an extra dimension which allows us to respond better to the different needs of different communities.”
If you live/or work in Cheshire and would like more information regarding current vacancies for Volunteer Independent Advisors, including the role profile, please see the Jobs section of www.cheshire.police.uk. Applications close on Friday 5 December.
