A WARRINGTON charity is one of six groups across the North West who are to go head-to-head in a bid to win National Lottery funding for life-changing projects.
The John Holt Cancer Foundation will take part in the televised “People’s Millions 2014” on ITV Granada.
Two groups each night will make their cases for viewers’ support to take home up to £50,000, with the public voting by phone to help decide who wins the prize.
There are four £50,000 awards up for grabs – one award for each night from November 24 to November 26 as well as a bonus award for the runner up with the most votes across the week.
On Wednesday, November 26 – the final night of voting – The John Holt Cancer Foundation, who have offices in Palmyra Square South, Warrington will take on Ladybarn Community Association.
They will have their fingers crossed that their “Sharing and Caring out in the Community” project, will top the polls.
This project will offer personalised support to people affected by cancer and their families.
For many people a cancer diagnosis can leave them feeling overwhelmed and isolate and the aim of the Caring and Sharing project is to provide a helping hand when and where it’s needed most.
This innovative project will bring emotional, practical and comforting support to the homes and families of those affected by cancer.
Services such as counselling, holistic therapies, sensory sessions and end of life support will be brought to the client. Practical help with household jobs such as cleaning, mowing the grass, shopping or putting up a shelf will be offered efficiently and tailored to meet the clients needs and desires.
Comfort with a capital C will be on offer in the form of comfy chemo packs, welcome home hampers and a friendly face to accompany people to hospital or deliver a nutritious home cooked meal. But, all of this will only be possible with the support of the voting public.
Voting numbers will be available on the day the project is featured with telephone voting lines opening at 9am and closing at midnight.
The winning project will be announced the following day.
