Young shoopers enjoy crazy science

YOUNG shoppers made exploding smoke bubbles and bouncing slime balls at a half-term week full of activities at Golden Square in Warrington.
Crazy scientists Wacky Jacky and James Lancashire used their expert hair-brained knowledge to guide the children through a range of action-packed experiments aimed at giving their half term holidays a real fizz.
As part of Golden Square’s special Discover and Do programme, Anna Chrystal, Golden Square marketing manager arranged a series of free family activities on a science theme to run throughout the half-term break.
The scientists led experiment sessions, which also included making sherbet, with the aim of entertaining the children while encouraging them to learn the basics of science at the same time.
The brainy little shoppers were also treated to sessions on growing
magnets, clay volcanoes and lab coat decorating.
Anna Crystal said: “It was great to see the reaction of the children to come of the wacky experiments we had for them to get stuck into. There was a lot of smiling and some looks of amazement too.
Latchford mum Alexandra Sawicka took her children Amelia, seven, and Alicia, three, to one of the sessions and said: “The science based activities have been a great idea and we often attend events like these at Golden Square because they are always well organised.
“These events are free, local and save us having to get on a train or take the car to get out to other places to find things to do during the school holidays when you are always looking for low-cost ways to entertain the children.
“Amelia particularly enjoyed the science activities and it fits in well with things she is also learning at school.”
