HISTORY making Warrington Town FC have been drawn at home to League Two Exeter City in the 1st Round Proper of the F.A Cup – and club legend, England World Cup winner Roger Hunt, was on hand to help celebrate the occasion.
Warrington Town’s most famous former player, who won at Wembley in 1965 with Liverpool, joined club officials, players and supporters to hear the draw taking place live.
Hunt who played on the Cantilever Park pitch for Stockton Heath before they became Warrington Town, has always kept in touch with the club where he started his glittering career.
Speaking live at the draw manager Shaun Reid said: “The Chairman promised us a few quid if we got league opposition, so the lads will be made up with that.
“I played in the FA Cup against Exter for Rochdale, so it will be good to get them to our place.”
The game is scheduled to take place the weekend of November 7-10 depending on TV coverage.
