PLANS to extend a residential care home at Westbrook, Warringon have triggered a protest from nearby householders.
They claim the proposed develop will encourage residents of Woodleigh Residential Home, in Calldns Road, to live at the rear of the property – overlooking the bedroom of their house in Newborough Close.
They also claim the proposed roof of the extended care home will be out of character with the rest of the building.
The plans, but forward by Warrington Borough Council, are for four single-storey extensions, two for day rooms, one for a conservatory and one for an entrance foyer and office.
They are intended to improve service delivery and respite care provision for adults with learning disabilities by developing the existing building into a multi-purpose hub.
Internal changes would result in 11 additional bedrooms
Planning officers, who are recommending the scheme be approved, say the site is well screened from properties on Newborough Close b a belt of trees and vegetation.
