WARRINGTON Town welcome back leading scorer Scott Metcalfe as they prepare for one of the biggest games in the club’s history when Northern Conference North Ferriby United visit the Winner Recruitment Stadium in the 4th qualifying round of the F.A Cup, this Saturday, kick off 3pm.
It is only the second time in 65 years that Warrington have made the 4th qualifying round and victory would see them in the 1st round proper and the chance of playing against a Football league team for the first time ever.
Metcalfe, (pictured top) who has missed the last three games, including the 3rd qualifying round victory over Colwyn Bay, through suspension, has bagged eleven goals so far this season and makes a welcome return. But Town will be without midfielder Conor Roberts who is suspended after accumulating 10 bookings.
The only other absentee is striker Anthony Hickey, who has been side lined with a knee injury since earlier in the season and is likely to be out until January.
Club Chairman Toby Macormac said: “This is a massive game for Warrington Town and will undoubtedly help raise the profile of the club if we can make the first round proper for the first time in our history.
“We have already proved that we can compete with a team from the Northern Conference over two games with Colwyn Bay, so we have nothing to fear.
“As a board of directors making the first round proper of the most famous cup competition in the world is something we have always set as one our key goals – and now we are within touching distance.
“We won’t be taking anything for granted and will give North Ferriby the respect they deserve – but this game is winnable and we will be going all out to create our place in history!”
