Makeover for beauty spot

STOCKTON Heath beauty spot Ackers Pit has been given a make-over – thanks to volunteers from the parish council and the local community.
Twelve volunteers turned up to give the area what parish council chairman Helen Dutton hopes will become a bi-annual event.
They cut back young suckers, ragwort and saplings growing on the edge of the water.
Cllr Dutton thanked the volunteers and parish clerk Louise Parker for their hard work which, she said, had made a big difference to the appearance of the pond.
In addition, contractors have carried out repair work to the flat feeding area near the weir and installed a wooden information table.
Cllr Dutton has produced details of the wildlife to be found at Ackers Pit and this has been display on the new information table.
