MEMBERS of Cheshire Police attended a special memorial service to remember officers who died while in service.
The annual service is held in a different policing area throughout the county each year and this years’ service was held at St Chad’s Church in Winsford.
It provided an opportunity for staff and families of those who died while serving Cheshire Police to pay their respects and pay tribute to them.
All ranks of officers attended alongside support staff colleagues and civic leaders from across the county.
Deputy chief constable Janette McCormick, said: “The service was not a communion service, but a special act of worship to remember Cheshire officers that have lost their lives whilst serving members of the Constabulary.
“It’s important to recognise the dangers officers face when they are protecting the community and tackling crime. This service recognises this and pays tribute to those who have given their lives in the course of their duty or died while in service for the constabulary.”
John Dwyer, police and crime commissioner said: “It is important we remember those who lost their lives whilst on duty or died while in service for the constabulary. Officers put their lives on the line every day to make us safe, and therefore it is right that we take the time to remember them.”
