Makuini sings the blues

LOCAL blues singer Makuini Wright will be performing at a Lymm Festival “winter warmer” blues night on Friday, November 14.
New Zealand-born Makuini was introduced at an early age to the sounds of the legendary Mahalia Jackson, Etta James, Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald.
But she had a style of her own as well and became an established singer, dancer and actress on stage and television in New Zealand.
Now based in Warrington, she has toured venues in Fiji, Samoa, Cook Islands, Tahiti, Hawaii and Los Angeles.
Over the years she has presented her show ‘Ladies in Soul’ in residencies throughout Europe as well as cruise ships around the world.
Her recently released album “Blues in the Bone” brilliantly showcases her remarkable voice and clearly demonstrates why she is one of New Zealand’s best loved singers around the world today.
She will be accompanied by the HooDoo Men whose line-up includes Paul Burgess on drums (10cc, Camel, Jethro Tull), George Glover on keyboards (Climax Blues Band) and the brilliant Pete ‘Sarge’ Frampton on guitar.
The band has recently completed a national tour to promote the new album.
Venue is Lymm Golf Club at 7.30pm and tickets cost £11.
