Find out about the local offer

PARENTS and carers are being invited to find out about Warrington’s “Local Offer” – by taking their children along to a series of fun events.
From soft play sessions to interactive sports, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy over the coming months as the borough council gathers views on the Local Offer and works with families to improve access to services and support even further.
The Local Offer is a one-stop-shop for information about services available to support children and young people with additional needs and has been developed in partnership with parents, carers and local services including schools, college and health and social care agencies.
Coffee mornings and tea and talk Afternoons will be held at the Warrington Play and Sensory Centre, next to Woolston Neighbourhood Hub, during October and November.
This will be an opportunity for parents and carers to see what’s on offer and have their say on services in the borough. During the events children can enjoy a free play session at the centre and refreshments will be provided. The dates are:
Wednesday October 22, 5pm-7pm; Thursday October 23, 10am-12pm; Thursday November 20, 10am-12pm; Wednesday November 26, 5pm- 7pm.
There are also interactive and sports-based events for young people with additional needs which include a chance to learn more about the Local Offer on: Thursday October 16, 6pm-9pm at Warrington Youth Club at the Peace Centre and Tuesday October 28, 10am-2:30pm at the Warrington Wolves Foundation.
Cllr Jean Carter (pictured), the council’s lead member for children and young people, said: “We’re delighted to launch Warrington’s Local Offer and these events are an opportunity for families to find out as much information about the new initiative as possible.
“We’ve based our Local Offer around what families have told us they need. Children and families are at the heart of service provision and it’s great that all of our information is now together in one place making it much easier for them to make more informed choices.
“The creation of the Local Offer has also been a great opportunity for us to join together many of Warrington’s other projects for children and young people including the brand new education hub for children with additional needs, Woolston Learning Village.”
Booking is essential for the interactive and sports-based sessions.
