POLICE at Warrington today appealed for information from the public following a serious sex attack on a 16-year-old girl.
The incident occurred on the corner of Ridley Drive and Sandringham Drive, Great Sankey at about 11.30pm on Tuesday (October 7).
The girl was out walking in the direction of Marina Avenue towards to the park. She was turning onto Sandringham Drive when the assault took place. She was left traumatised and police have been working with her to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The offender is described as being approximately 6ft 1 inch tall with a bald head. He was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms with light-coloured stripes and a grey hooded, long-sleeve top, with a black cap.
DI Clare Coleman said: “We are appealing for information from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident or seen anyone acting suspiciously.
“We would particularly like to speak to an elderly lady who was seen in the area at the time, wearing a red coat and walking a dog.
“Anyone with any information is urged to contact Cheshire Police on 101.”
The investigation is continuing and there is an increased police presence in the area to reassure residents.
