Motorway pile-up: Two confirmed dead

POLICE have now confirmed that two people were killed in the four vehicle pile-up on the M56 near Frodsham early this afternoon.
Vehicles involved were two heavy goods vehicles, a bus with no passengers on board and a private car.

Police and fire and rescue crews rushed to the scene and drivers were asked to avoid the area.
The motorway was closed in both directions at first, but the westbound carriageway is now open.
Police said the A56 was experiencing heavy traffic, but it was moving. The Runcorn expressways are also heavily congested.
They advised drivers to avoid the area if at all possible.
