Children losing out by £91 a year

SCHOOL children at Warrington are losing out to the tune of £91 a year because government grant has not kept up with inflation, according to MP Helen Jones
The Warrington North MP has obtained figures in a Parliamentary answer showing that, since the government made changes to the direct schools grant last year, there has been no increase in funding for Warrington schools.
She said: “Cash per pupil has remained the same but figures I have obtained show that, if our grant had kept up with inflation, each pupil in Warrington would have £91 more spent on their education.
“Our funding has stood still yet the price of supplies and equipment for schools, like everything else, is going up.
“We know that people’s pay is not matching prices under this government. Now we know that our children are losing out as well.”
