WORKS of art produced by Warrington residents who have experience of mental ill-health will be displayed at a Festival of Arts taking place on Sunday (October 5)
Local mental health services provider 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is inviting the public to join in the fun at the Resource and Recovery Centre on Marshalls Cross Road, St Helens from 12noon to 4pm.
Trust chief executive Simon Barber said: “We warmly welcome members of the public from all five boroughs we serve including Warrington at this free-to-attend annual event which is designed to inspire, excite and entertain.
Hosted in Peasley Cross’ beautifully restored orchard and walled gardens, the festival will showcase the artistic talents of people with life experience of health problems as well as members of staff, carers and volunteers.
A packed schedule will include music and poetry performances, wood carving and willow art, creative arts and craft displays, exhibitions and sales and also photographic and scarecrow competitions.
There will be opportunities for people to get involved in craft workshops and to take part in community displays. Children’s entertainment will also be provided – guaranteeing a great day out for all the family.
Warrington Disability Partnership (WDP)will be preparing a variety of food and refreshments as well as running the tombola crammed with prizes and a hugely popular glitter tattoo stall.
WDP founder and chairman Dave Thompson said: “The Trust has sponsored Disability Awareness Day for a number of years and as a charity we are delighted to be giving something back by supporting the catering for the Festival of Arts.
Promoting independent living and supporting social inclusion are two of my great passions, and I am excited to see them come together in one event that promises to inspire all who attend.”
