Remembrance and thanksgiving service

A SERVICE of Remembrance and Thanksgiving for victims of the First World War will be held at St Elphin’s Parish Church on Sunday.
Civic and Regimental dignitaries will join the Mayor of Warrington Cllr Ted Finnegan for the annual Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving of The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment on the 76th Anniversary of the dedication of the 1914-18 war memorial of the South Lancashire’s Regiment (Prince of Wales’s Volunteers).
Veterans and Cadets from across the north west recruiting area will attend, and a march past will follow the service, led by the Regimental Band, of The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.
The march past will start as soon as the service concludes at 12.15 pm. Road closures are in place along church street for the duration of the event ie all morning and should reopen after the march past (estimate 1pm).
