FORMER Great Sankey High School pupil Nathan Holland has had a great start to college life at Cronton Sixth Form after receiving a prestigious College scholarship.
Nathan has been awarded a scholarship in Maths and Science and is planning to go to university after completing his A levels in Chemistry, Physics, Maths and History at Cronton and plans to train as a Structural Engineer.
He is one of 10 students who were selected for the scholarship award after a series of interviews, and follows in the footsteps of Rebecca Ashwood, Rebecca Angell and Thomas Scott from Warrington who are all second year scholarship students at Cronton and after a successful first year are now applying for university.
Nathan said: “I was over the moon when I heard I had been awarded the scholarship and was really pleased with my achievement. I am enjoying College; Cronton has a really welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff.”
The other students who were awarded scholarships in 2014 at Cronton Sixth Form are Matthew Bannerman, Amy Littler, Michael Cooke, Amy Milne, Lauren Smith, Reuben Austin, Nadine McGhee, Taylor Goodall and Katie Dinsdale.
Mary Murphy, College Principal said: “We are delighted to welcome all of our students to Cronton Sixth Form this year. Already they have settled in well to their studies and are participating in many enrichment activities including the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, the Science and Medical Club, College productions and the Debating Society.
“These scholarships are designed to support students and provide financial assistance towards the costs of fulfilling their potential in their chosen field. For example, students may use the money for attending competitions, buying equipment, paying for specialist coaching or tuition and/or studying towards extension awards.”
