NHS coffee drinkers raise £600

NHS staff based at Winwick, Warrington have raised more than £600 to support those affected by cancer.
Staff from the finance, human resources, communications and learning and development teams at 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust took part in Macmillan’s annual “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning”.
Proceeds from popular bake sales on three consecutive days will top up the national fund which will help make sure no one has to face cancer alone, from the moment they’re diagnosed, through treatment and beyond.
Helen Kilgannon, assistant director of organisational learning and development at the trust, said: “Connecting with and giving to others and learning new skills are steps that are central to our Health and Wellbeing strategy.
“It was fantastic to see colleagues having a go at baking and supporting one another’s efforts, all while raising money for a great cause.
“Cancer can affect anyone at any age; like mental health it doesn’t discriminate. It’s important that we all recognise we can have a role to play in supporting people at the difficult times in their lives – not just financially but by being caring, compassionate and communicating.”
Last year, MacMillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ raised more than £20 million.
