Police in search for volunteers

POLICE in Cheshire are looking to enlist recruitment lay assessment volunteers – a new, challenging and rewarding role for members of the public.
The volunteers will assist Cheshire Constabulary in ensuring that the recruitment processes for police officers, staff and volunteers are reviewed from an external perspective.
They will ensure they are as effective as possible, reflect the needs and expectations of the communities and promote positive action and equality in the workplace.
Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, John Dwyer is very eager for people to become part of the wider policing family and for people to give something back to their community.
Cheshire Constabulary actively encourages people to get involved in local policing.
Volunteering can enable people to give something back to your local community and provide an opportunity to develop new skills and gain new experiences.
Temporary chief superintendent and head of HR Nick Bailey said: “It is imperative for us to ensure our recruitment processes are as effective as possible and to certify that we enforce positive action competently and effectively.
“We are actively seeking volunteer candidates from under-represented groups to come in and confirm that our processes are representative of our policies, and that candidates from under representative groups are being mentored and supported efficiently; it is vital for us to have a workforce representative of the communities we police and serve.”
Recruitment lay assessment volunteers will not have to go through the full application process; but will be vetted.
They will be based at the police HQ in Winsford, and will be required to attend seminars, developmental and training sessions, also asked to undertake assessments as and when required. Appropriate notice will be given of dates and times of assessments.
The recruitment lines will close on the October 4.
