Community clean up day

WARRINGTON based United Utilities held a “Clean Up Cantilever” volunteer day as part of their ethos of working in the community.
The water giants are currently sponsors of the club’s community programme headed up by community development officer James Standing , who provides football and sports coaching sessions to schools and linking in with a number of junior football teams across the town.
On the day, 20 staff from United Utilities descended on the Abacus Solicitors Community Stadium, formally Cantilever Park, to give the ground a fresh new look ahead of Warrington Town’s upcoming Evo-Stik NPL First Division North fixtures.
Team leader Andrew Cunliffe, said “It has been great to come down and help to support our local non-league club. It is a great set up they have here and we are only too happy to get out of the office for a day and provide a service to them.”
The group cleaned changing rooms, cleared weeds, painted and even helped to clear the car park in preparation for the next home game. Club mascot Ollie The Owl was on hand to give the team a lift as the United Utilities Team leader seemed to go missing at the time!
James added: “The help this group have given us in the past and today has been fantastic and we cannot thank them enough. Every member of staff who has been down here from United Utilities have all been great workers and very complimentary about our facilities. It is just another step in the right direction for us and it is great to have another local company involved with Warrington Town.”
