Youth international signs for Wolves

WARRINGTON Wolves academy has signed promising young international half-back Morgan Smith ahead of the 2015 campaign.
The club has recruited Smith, 16, after Yorkshire scouts spotted him playing for his community club and Yorkshire in 2011.
He has been continually monitored progressing into the Leeds Academy and playing at Stanley Rangers. As well as representing Yorkshire he has also represented his country in the England Youth U16s team in 2012 and 2013.
The Wolves’ U19s Academy has impressed this season, finishing the regular campaign at the top of the table. A signing of Smith’s quality will only enhance the squad ahead of next season. He has played Rugby League since the age of six and has a driving ambition to play first grade in the Super League and at international level in the future.
Head of youth, junior recruitment and development Ben Lazenby said: “Morgan is a very talented young halfback. He was spotted a few years ago by our scouts in Yorkshire and we have tracked him very closely since, with Steve Cooper monitoring his performance under the national talent ID system that we have in place, managed by Peter Farrell.
“As soon as we saw Morgan we knew he was a special player and had the right kind of personal characteristics for Warrington Wolves. We were delighted to secure his signature this summer. He is a marquee player and getting him on board will strengthen our U19s significantly in 2015.
“Morgan has always impressed when he has turned out for either England, Leeds or Stanley Rangers and we would like to thank all of the coaches who have worked with him over the past few years. As a player he possesses great understanding and reading of the game; his foresight and ability to control a game is very high for a player of his age and he also has the skills to be able to exploit that game understanding. We are all excited to see how he progresses and expect to see him playing in the first team in a few years time.”
