Public urged to stay away from dogs home due to traffic congestion

OVERWHELIMG public support for Manchester Dogs home following the fire which claimed the lives of more than 50 animals led to major traffic congestion at its sister Grappenhall premises earlier today.
Cheshire Dogs Home on Knutsford Road, Grappenhall, Warrington, saw hundreds of people arrive at its doors this afternoon, keen to make donations and offer help.
However, the sheer volume of numbers has created significant congestion in the area, and both the Cheshire Dogs Home and Warrington Police are urging people not to turn up at the dogs home, but instead to check the website for details of how to make a donation or adopt a dog.
Ins Sarah Heath said, ” The offers of help and support to the Cheshire Dogs Home has literally been overwhelming. However, the sheer volume of people coming to the Dogs Home has caused significant traffic consgestion tailing back to the motorway. Officers have used nearby fields to create overspill parking, but there are still a significant number of people in slow moving tailbacks, in some very warm weather conditions.”
“Officers are working hard to get traffic flowing, but the clear advice is – if you want to help, please check online to find a drop off point near to you.”
Details of how to make financial donations, or drop off provisions to assist in providing for the displaced dogs are available on a number of websites, including the Manchester Dogs Home, and the RSPCA Facebook.
