College proves to be a knockout

NEW students at Warrington Collegiate had an induction of a different kind, as they took part in a three-day “It’s a Knockout” event.
The “get to know you” event aims to help students make friends, have fun and set the scene for a successful year at the college.
Students and staff made up teams of 7-10 people who pitched against each other in a series of games, such as navigating a bouncy obstacle dressed as a telly tubby, a foam pit, buckets of water and lots of running around dressed in silly costumes.
Neil Colquhoun, from Student Services, Warrington Collegiate, who organised the event said: “We have over 600 new students starting from over 30 different schools in Warrington and surrounding areas. This event always gets students mixing, and with its element of competition helps build strong teams and firm friendships, many of which last long after the course is finished.
The games were provided by Graham Fisher’s It’s a Knockout company, who, 34 years ago, were the first company to take ex BBC Props on the road presenting the ‘Original ‘ touring version of It’s A Knockout. Although the originals are now long gone and a distant memory the modern version of the highly individual Inflatables, games and challenges prove to be a winner with participants every time.
Neil added: “Special thanks go to United Utilities, who filled the pools with the 5, 5000 litres of water required for free. Without this it wouldn’t be half so much fun, or half so wet!
“We’re sure the general consensus will be that much fun was had by all and same time, same place, next year!”
