WARRINGTON Wolves have confirmed the signing of Castleford hooker Daryl Clark, as previously reported by warrington worldwide.
Clark, 21, will join on a four-year deal from next season after the club paid a substantial transfer fee for his services, a fee that helped save the Tigers from the threat of administration.
He came through the scholarship and academy ranks at his hometown club and will fill the spot vacated by the retiring Michael Monaghan.
Wolves Head of coaching and rugby, Tony Smith, said: “I’m extremely excited to be working with Daryl next year. He’s been an absolutely super player this year and one of the highest performers; it’s been between him and Chris Hill, I think, week in week out.
“He’s getting better and better and I am looking forward to working with him. What he can bring to our squad will be a great contribution; hopefully we can add to his game as well over the coming years and forge a strong association for many seasons to come.”
Clark added: “Warrington are a massive club and have been involved in finals and massive games over the last few years. As a player that’s what you want to do within the game; win trophies, play in big games and finish high in the league every year and that’s what Warrington have achieved. It feels like the right move for me to step forward.
“This has probably been the best year I’ve had so far and hopefully I can keep that form going and bring that to the Wolves. It’s a long deal and I’m just looking to enjoy myself and hopefully win some trophies. It’s something new for me. I’m looking forward to working with different people; Tony is a great coach, has worked at big clubs and has a good track record.”
