GRAPPENHALL got back to something like their true selves but still lost narrowly at third placed Toft in the Vivio Cheshire County League premier division.
On a way when rain again wiped out most cricket involving Warrington sides, Grappers batted first and reached 170-7 on a day when conditions were not easy for batsmen. James McCoy top scored with 37 and all-rounder Josh McClelland hammered an unbeaten 35.
The home side’s last pair were at the wicket when the winning run was hit, Toft finishing on 171-9. McClelland, with 5-55, was the pick of Grappers’ bowlers.
In division two, Warrington romped to victory over Upton at Walton Lea, largely thanks to the pace and aggression of Kyle Adams who took 7-33 as the visitors crashed out for 70.
Earlier Warrington had hit 180-8, with Chris Kirby hitting 40, Will Fleetwood 39 and Richard Heaney 31.
In the Cheshire Alliance, Glazebury went down by five wickets at Wistaston Village after being bowled out for 115, Dean Lord 59 and Chris Lord 22. Wistaton replied with 116-5, Sam Stanier with 2-47 being Glazebury’s most successful bowler.
Rylands lost by seven wickets at Tranmere Victoria after batting first and totalling 121, Richard Buck 32. Tranmere cruised to 126-3.
Appleton 4th drew with Saughall after batting first and hitting 190. Saughall were 133-5 at the close.
In the TACS Partnership Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park went down by nine wickets at Ashley after being dismissed for 113, J Roberts 31 and N Din 31.
The 2nd XI game at Lymm also went Ashley’s way, the visitors hitting 142, J. Hughes 6-38 and Lymm managing only 103, Dave Avans 24, S Chatterjee 25.
