POLICE and the RSPCA are investigating after two dogs were found dead in a security van at the Creamfields music festival at Daresbury, near Warrington.
It is understood both dogs were Rottweilers and were part of the security set-up at the festival.
A post mortem examination is due to be carried out but one theory already is that the animals died from heat stroke after being locked in the van.
In a brief statement, Creamfields said: “We have been made aware of the incident and are assisting the RSPCA with their investigation.”
Security was in the hands of a specialist security firm
Today, police warned motorists to expect traffic congestions as thousands of music fans left the festival site to return home.
Up to 50,000 fans are believed to have attended each of the three days of the festival.
Locally, residents have said there were few noise problems on the Friday and Saturday nights, but that there were serious problems last night (Sunday).
One resident said the sound of the music could be heard through double glazing and above the television in Penketh.
A Stockton Heath resident said their house was vibrating to the sound and a DJ could be heard using foul language.
