Post offices to be modernised

TWO Warrington post offices are to be modernised and open for longer hours.
The post offices in Dewhurst Road, Birchwood and in Holes Lane, Woolston will both be re-launched as “new main style branches.”
Warrington North MP Helen Jones (pictured) has welcomed the news which, she believes, will result in a more convenient and effective service for customers.
She said: “The aims is to create a more modern branch which, crucially, will be open for longer on Saturdays and, in the case of Birchwood, Sundays as well.
“This is welcome news as it will provide a more convenient and effective service for customers.”
The new branch at Birchwood is scheduled to open on Friday, September 12
at 1 pm. It will close at 5.30 pm on Wednesday September 3 for refurbishment work to take place.
New opening hours will see the branch extend its opening hours on
Saturday, closing at 5.30 pm instead of 3 pm and a post office service at the retail counter offering selected services open from 8 am to 6.30 pm Mondays to Tuesdays, 8 am to 7 pm Wednesdays to Saturdays and 10 am to 4.30 pm on Sundays.
There will be four serving positions, a low level serving counter and a hearing loop.
The new branch at Woolston is due to open on Saturday, October 4 at 1pm, after closing at 5.30pm on Thursday, September 18 for refurbishment.
Its new opening hours will see the branch open on Saturdays from 9 am to 5.30pm There will bethree serving positions, a low level serving counter and a hearing loop.
