AN employee at the Co-operative food store in Holes Lane, Woolston, Warrington has celebrated with colleagues after marking 40 years’ service at the community retailer.
Michael Bell, who has worked at the Holes Lane store for the last five years, joined the business straight from school as a warehouse operative in 1974.
Over the years he has worked in many different roles, from supervisor to manager, at every Co-operative store in Warrington and also several stores in Liverpool – and is already looking forward to clocking up 50 years.
Michael, 56, from Orford, said: “Over the years I have seen a lot of changes and have worked with some great people, who make coming in to work every day enjoyable. I’ve enjoyed every minute of working here and never thought of working anywhere else, and will probably still be here in another 10 years!”
As a thank-you for his service, colleagues held a party and presented Michael with a watch, chocolates and a bottle of Jack Daniels.
Tony Pickford, the Co-operative’s local operations manager in Warrington, added: “Michael has been a great ambassador for the Co-operative and I would like to thank him for all his hard work and loyal service over the last 40 years.”
