CHILDREN who play on Radley Common are enjoying a brand new play area.
The play area was officially opened by Cllr Brian Maher on Friday 25 July along with Cllr Peter Carey, parents and children from the Sunshine Children’s Centre and council officers.
The play equipment and refurbishment of the play area was funded by the council’s capital programme and work was carried out earlier this year by the parks team.
The council’s central neighbourhood team were also successful in a bid to WREN, a non-for-profit business that awards grants for community and heritage projects. The funding was used to refurbish the multi-use games area at Radley Common. The council’s parks and green spaces team will also be refreshing the playing surface bringing the total investment in Radley Common to nearly £50,000.
Cllr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture, said: “The new play equipment area is a welcome asset to the community and I hope the children from the local area will enjoy making good use of it!”
