THE annual Golden Gates Housing Trust’s (GGHT) garden competition, now in its 10th year, proved a hit with tenants.
Green fingered tenants throughout Warrington competed in the categories of Best Garden and Most Improved Garden, with one lucky winner taking away the prize for Overall Winner.
The competition aims to recognise and reward those tenants who go the extra mile, creating gardens that improve the look of their local area.
It has been a popular annual event with tenant’s year in year out, with many entrants coming back with wonderful new displays every year.
Passion and gardening knowledge were apparent amongst all of this year’s entrants, with gardens demonstrating a good selection of plants and colour combinations, evidence of recycling, and a tidy appearance all round.

Overall winner
Roland Adcock – Rixton

Well done to Mr Adcock from Rixton who was our overall winner this year. His garden impressed the judges because of the impressive array of fruit and vegetables grown in the garden, his use of recycled materials and the overall look and appearance of his garden.
GGHT Chair, Roy Smith said: “Our resident garden competition gives recognition to those who lead by example and inspire others in the community to look after their gardens. Once again, I’m very pleased to see so many people enter the garden competition; though judging seems to get harder every year.
“All of the gardens we visited were a credit to the people looking after them. However, there can only be one overall winner, so many congratulations to Mr Adcock.”
Each winner received £200 in vouchers, £100 for second and £50 for third place. The overall winner took home £300 in vouchers.
