Expansion plan for primary school

PLANS have been announced to expand Great Sankey’s Barrow Hall Primary School – possibly on a new site at Omega.
Warrington Borough council wants to expand the school as part of a
strategy to meet the growing and predicted demand for primary
places in West Warrington planned for the 2016/17 academic year.
The expansion will involve replacement of the existing buildings with a new school building able to take 90 children per year.
Cllr Jean Carter, the council’s lead member for children and young people’s services, said: “We are delighted to be able to announce this and it is great news for the school and community. We are looking at the areas in Warrington where we know primary school places need to be created.
“The Omega site is our preferred option for the relocation of Barrow Hall because there is a site which is so close to the existing school but we will be talking to parents and to the community about the impact of these changes.
“More details will be available at the start of the new term when we will be engaging with parents and the local community and getting their thoughts on this exciting development planned for the 2016-2017 academic year.”
John Littler, head teacher at Barrow Hall Primary, said: ““What a
great opportunity for Barrow Hall Primary School. A new building on a new site so close to our current location means we will have all the facilities and space we need, which benefits the children from our existing community as well as those from the new development”.
The plans for the school are part of wider investment proposals for the area including the development of the Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub.
