New garden waste recycling trial

A NEW garden waste recycling scheme is being trialled in two locations in Warrington South this month.
As August is a peak period for garden waste and many residents fill their green bins within a couple of days, there will be a trial period of additional local recycling facilities specifically for garden waste in areas where there is high demand.
The new bins are available at two existing recycling sites – Davies Way car park at Lymm and the Forge Shopping Centre car park off West Avenue Stockton Heath.
Residents are asked not to bag garden waste and to not leave any waste at the side of the bins.
Suggestions for other location where this scheme can be trialled are welcome at [email protected] with any ideas.
Residents are also currently being asked for their thoughts of the future of waste and recycling across the whole of Warrington.

Cllr David Keane (pictured) the borough council’s lead member for environment and public protection said: “We are trialling this scheme in areas where demand is high for kerbside garden waste collections as we want to gauge demand for extra facilities at a local level. We are open to suggestions on the future of waste and recycling in Warrington and are keen to hear ideas from residents of where else we can pilot this new project.”
