ANOTHER disappointing performance from Grappenhall saw them drop to sixth place in the Vivio Cheshire County League premier division – only a few short weeks after they had been challenging for top spot.
This time it was Bramhall who turned the screw with Grappers perhaps making a mistake when deciding to bowl first on a Broad Lane pitch that looked as though it might get better as the day wore on.
In fact, the strip played pretty well throughout and Bramhall reached 213-6 – helped by some below par fielding. Sam Baxter, Sam Guest and Josh McClelland picked up two wickets each.
Grappenhall got off to a good enough start but then lost their way, ending up with 189, Ben Bodha top scoring with 51 and Gas Burns hitting 40.
Grappenhall 2nd were bowled out for 126 at Didsbury and the home side coasted to victory with 127-6.
In division two, Warrington continued with their recent improved form to defeat Irby by six wickets at Walton Lea – consolidating their position at fifth in the table.

Warrington 4th drew with Haslington, who batted first and hit 127-9, Les Connolly 5-56 and David Lee 4-33. Warrington replied with 120-7, Connolly hitting 46 and Paul Agar 23.
In the Cheshire Alliance, Glazebury travelled to the Wirral to give The Groves a savage mauling.
Batting first, the home side were dismissed for a paltry 56, Sam Stanier taking 4-20 and Tom Wilkinson 5-20. Glazebury hit off the runs for the loss of two wickets, Dave Acton hitting an unbeaten 25 and Jack Warhurst 19 not out.
