MORE than 20 businesses and other groups entered the annual St Rocco’s Hospice Dragon Boat Race on the Mersey at Warrington Rowing Club.
As usual there was plenty of friendly competition between the teams and the result was the closest ever.
But eventually defending champions The Mighty Ducks were again victorious with a time of 01.25.12.
Runners-up were The Water Boatmen with a time of 01.25.76 while third were the Carlsberg Dragons with 01.29.26. Fourth were Slimloaders with 01.29.59.
The money raised from the race will go towards caring for St Rocco’s patients and families, all of who are living with life limiting illnesses such as cancer.
All care is given completely free of charge, but St Rocco’s need to raise £3.2million each year, just to keep their doors open.
Helen Latham, corporate fundraiser, said: “The Dragon Boat Race is such an exciting event, with lots of friendly competition and team spirit. We are so grateful to all of our teams for their wonderful support.”
