WARRINGTON Collegiate students are celebrating some of their best BTEC results ever, with 70% of students in the top 25% in the country.
The results mean many students taking places at some of the top universities and specialist colleges in the country.
Among the greatest achievements this year were students from the Arts Centre, many of whom are progressing onto some of the most prestigious colleges of Art and Drama in the country. 24 year old Rebecca Walker, from Croft, is one of two students awarded a place at the London College of Fashion, whilst 18 year old Mollie Kenyon, from Appleton, gained a place at Bournemouth University, the UK’s number one university to study Art.
Mollie said: “I am so excited to be going to the best university to study Art. The teachers at The Arts Centre have been amazing; they give you lots of support and help with your career aspirations. I can’t thank them enough.”
Performing Arts student, Ronan Cullen, aged 18 from Walton, is progressing to at the prestigious Acting school East 15. Fellow student, Amie Howells, aged 21 from Ashton-in-Makerfield, is delighted to have gained a place at the University of York, one of the exclusive Russell group universities.
There were many individual successes. Tom Heron, aged 18 and studying Construction and the Built Environment, was delighted to be selected for the prestigious cadet programme with Laing O’Rourke. Tom will be sponsored through his degree in Commercial Management at Liverpool John Moores University, whilst being employed as an Estimator with Laing O’Rourke.
Paul Hafren, Principal at Warrington Collegiate, says, “We’re proud of our students who have worked extremely hard to achieve these fantastic results. I’m sure that many of them will go onto even greater achievements in the future.”
Warrington Collegiate had further cause for celebration, having being placed in the top 25% of colleges for developing students’ employability skills. Students leaving to pursue careers in industry and higher level apprenticeships were delighted to have having achieved some top jobs in their chosen profession.
Abbey Lever, 18, was flying high after gaining employment as cabin crew with Jet2 whilst fellow student, 19-year-old Andy Everest, was going onto his dream job at City Airport with the prospect of training to become a pilot in the future.
