Awards for Walton Lea Partnership

THE Walton Lea Partnership has won two prestigious Green Flag Community awards.
The charity provides supported employment for adults who have learning difficulties, mental health issues and the early onset of alzeihmers, and is based at two sites; the Long Lane Garden Centre in Orford and the Walton Lea Walled Garden in Higher Walton, which have both been awarded Green Flag status for the upcoming year.
Recognising and rewarding the very best in green spaces and parks, the Green Flag Scheme is judged against eight strict criteria including; horticultural standards, cleanliness, sustainability and community involvment.
The Walton Lea Partnership was awarded the Community Green Flag status thanks to its community work within Warrington and the wider area. To date, the charity has provided training and employment for over 80 adults in gardening, woodwork, floristry, conservation work and customer service.
Commercial manager at the Walton Lea Partnership, Kate Fitch, said: “We’re extremely pleased to have been awarded Green Flag status for both of our sites as it’s a testament to everyone’s hard work and dedication. Since the charity was established in 1998, we have been committed to helping people in the local community and making a real difference to their lives.
“The Green Flag Award also provides us with a quality stamp, which we hope will attract more visitors to the Walton Lea Walled Garden and Long Lane Garden Centre, which both sell a whole host of plants, vegetables, upcycled furniture and even restored bikes. I would like to thank everyone involved in the Walton Lea Partnership for their contiuned hard work.”
